I'm sorry to sound profane

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 22, 2016, 8:12 PM
But....The WTF changes that have been made to group autonomy and and managing the deviants and their arts in our group?  If this rate of ridiculousness continues unabated  it will lead to the eventual collapse of DA.

I LOVE this place and the art and each deviant who submits to a group I oversee...But, with this severe and  (ridiculous) limit is outrageous and plain stupid.  Are you guys? girls?  TRYING to go bankrupt and use people closing groups and LEAVING for other art sites, as the reason?

Please tell me this is a joke....and not funny

Sincerely

Lady-compassion

I guess DA is making it easier for me to potentially decide to just abandon ship and use social media for artwork uploading. I've been on DA for a very long time, longer than the 10 years my profile says, and when they came up with groups it was really helpful, but here we are, years later, and it's become more convoluted than it needs to be. I understand there is a need for some practical functions, but lets face the overarching problem with groups anyways:

- The fact you have too many people swamping these groups, especially spamming
- groups setup TO spam/too general a topic
- too strict on what can be uploaded/too many rules/hoops
- and the fact that members of groups can simply turn off group deviations, completely turning the idea of getting exposure by having your work in a group on it's head. People spam and spam these groups and who knows how many eyes actually see their deviations. Folks don't want their inboxes spammed, so they turn group deviations off. It's counter productive.

This system is pathetic. Just use social media; it's more practical, and already set up in a way that you can start using it like a group, link it to your art account/main account, and go from there. Besides, for every year that's gone by that DA TRIES to be more like a social media site, the more generic it becomes as an art site; it used to be really good but it's trying too hard to morph into this all-encompassing force and it just doesn't seem to be working out.

Even basic features on sites like facebook, twitter, instragram, tumblr, etc make it easier to chat, share, and organize content, and DA can't even seem to get the basics right.

dA is fucked. There were already too many restrictions in the way you can manage groups, but the new restrictions make it even less appealing to run a group.

From what I understand, DA monkeying around with this limit has wreaked havoc with a lot of settings in groups.  I've noticed that a handful of groups I belonged too are no longer coming up in my group list, deleted without so much as a notice to their members.  It's just crazy and makes me wonder who it is that is actually making these stupid decisions, and doing the coding.  They have no idea what they are doing.

:sighs: DA is dying and successfully speeding up its demise by this kind of nonsense.

It's hurting a lot of groups, indeed! Especially since it's to hard to find the right setting to make it work as intended (meaning 10 artworks per folder, if correctly set). I had to spend 2 weeks of testing before finally finding what was wrong in my group!
